St. Croix Sensory remains open and committed to the success of your project needs throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the safety of our clients and staff, we have outlined our “Best Practice Recommendations” for the use and care of the Nasal Ranger Field Olfactometer, Odor Sensitivity Test Kit and odor sampling equipment.
The Kestrel 5500 Weather Meter offers accurate measurements of temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed, wind direction, altitude, and many more parameters. All this in a 4-oz. instrument you can carry in your pocket.
The included rotating vane mount, attached to a tripod, creates a full featured weather station. Precision pivot keeps the meter oriented into the wind for continuous measurements.
Data is stored within the meter and accessible via download with the USB dongle or via mobile app with the included LiNK communication. View, analyze, and share logged data immediately from your mobile device with the Kestrel App.
Q: Does the weather meter datalog?
The Kestrel Weather Meter logs over 10,000 sets of time stamped data. Your data log can be transfered wireless to an iOS or Android device with included LiNK communication and the Kestrel App. Data can also be transfered to Windows PC or Mac with the included USB dongle.
Q: What is LiNK?
LiNK communication allows you to view the currently measured data or logged data wirelessly with the Kestrel App on an iOS or Android device. Logged data can be saved and sent to PC or Mac via email from your device.
Q: What is the USB dongle?
The USB dongle (small USB adapter included) is a Bluetooth device that allows you to download logged data directly to your PC or Mac.
Q: Is the rotating weather vane included?
Yes, the rotating weather vane is included with your purchase of the 5500 Weather Meter. The weather vane has a 1/4-20 thread to mount to most standard tripods, or consider the Kestrel compact tripod (p/n NR0792) or the mini-tripod (p/n NR0799).
Q: What if I already have access to weather data from nearby airport?
Micro-meteorology can lead to significantly different weather conditions within short distances. It is always best to be measuring exact weather conditions at each odor monitoring location.

The Water Environment Federation (WEF) has completed an update to their popular Manual of Practice, “Odor Emissions and Control for Collection Systems and Water Resource Recovery Facilities”, also known as MOP-25.
The character of the odor, often referred to as odor quality, can be evaluated with standard protocols that greatly reduce the subjectivity of assessments.
